Dictate

The Dictate lens (H) turns each line’s text into grey word shapes: you see how long each word is, not what it says.

How to practise

1. Press H to enter Dictate.
2. Play the current line; S replays it and Shift+, slows it down.
3. Write what you hear on paper, or in your head.
4. Hover (desktop) or press and hold (touch) the line to peek at the answer.

What it’s good for

• Checking that you really hear the line rather than guess from subtitles.
• A second pass after Echo: come back the next day and dictate the same passage.

Relation to other lenses

Dictate and Echo are exclusive: turning one on turns the other off. Press H again to return to normal viewing.
