Why no word-by-word highlighting?

Highlighting needs a timestamp per word; platform captions only time the whole line, so the underline can’t follow playback. Word-level scoring is unaffected — it comes from Azure assessing your recording against the text, which needs no word timing, and it works down to each word in the panel.

Pitch contour: no original line on Netflix

The pitch contour is analysed on your device. Your recording line is always available (microphone capture); the original reference line needs the video’s audio — YouTube works, but Netflix and other DRM-protected platforms can’t hand out their audio, so the chart shows only your recording. For both lines, open the material in the web app or Enjoy Player.

YouTube

Open a video and click the extension icon. If a video has no captions at all, the panel tells you it can’t be practised.

Netflix

Choose your subtitle language in Netflix’s own settings first, then open the panel. If you don’t see subtitles, check that they’re on in Netflix and that the language is right.

Caution

Subtitles and page structure are controlled by the platforms; when one redesigns, the extension may break for a while. See the FAQ.

Other sites

The extension currently works only on YouTube and Netflix. For other material, import it into the Web app or use Enjoy Player.
